Questions it asks

Applying: a system that helps an organisation, or an individual, navigate the meaning their work carries.

Surfacing: noticing the codes we already live inside well enough to act on them.

Two systems built from one theoretical core, raised in different working environments: the Practitioner SOS and the Co-Creator OS, siblings rather than iterations.
The encounter

One apparatus, two environments

The apparatus that emerged from the doctoral research was designed in the abstract, as a theoretical instrument that practitioners and individuals could use. Moving from “could” to “does” required two different systems, not one. An organisational consultant working on a brand’s meaning-making operates in a very different semiotic environment from an individual making sense of their own creative, intellectual, or everyday practice. The same instrument cannot serve both without losing its precision in either. So the work split into two parallel systems: siblings raised in different cultural environments, sharing a theoretical origin and developing very different surfaces. This entry holds both. The Practitioner SOS is the older sibling, in active development for organisational consulting; the Co-Creator OS is its individual-facing counterpart, in active design.

Practitioner SOS

What is being made

Practitioner SOS is a working system for organisational consultants, in-house brand teams, and cross-cultural strategists: practitioners whose work depends on reading and shaping the meaning an organisation is making, often under commercial pressure and rarely with the luxury of academic vocabulary in the room. It is grounded in the same theoretical apparatus that underlies the Co-Creator OS, but its surface is built to fit the formats, rhythms, and accountability structures of real consulting engagements. It produces working deliverables (audits, structured findings, strategic recommendations) rather than analytical exercises. The theoretical machinery operates behind the deliverable; what the client receives is a finding they can act on. The older of the two siblings, it has developed through the work of Semiozic OÜ, where client engagements are simultaneously its test bed and its development environment.

What it shows

Translating a rigorous semiotic apparatus into a practitioner-grade working system is its own de-sign problem, distinct from translating it for an individual user, and distinct from the academic problem of proposing the apparatus in the first place. The Practitioner SOS is the answer to that problem, in the register of organisational consulting. Together with the Co-Creator OS, it carries the underlying apparatus to two very different audiences without either system collapsing into the other.

Co-Creator OS · Individual-facing SOS

What is being made

Co-Creator OS is a designed system for a single individual to use in the development of their own meaning-making practice, whether creative, intellectual, professional, or everyday. It is grounded in the apparatus of the doctoral research, but designed so that the theoretical machinery operates beneath the surface a user encounters. The user does not need to know the theory in order to benefit from it; the system carries the apparatus quietly. The intended user is not a specialist; the intended posture is alongside, not above. Development is active: the internal architecture is in place, and the layer a person actually sees and uses is being designed now.

What it shows

Translating a rigorous theoretical apparatus into a system whose user does not need to know that apparatus is its own de-sign problem. Together with the Practitioner SOS, the Co-Creator OS is a test of one claim: that semiotic precision can be carried into a working tool whose users do not need to enter the discipline to benefit from it. The deliverable will be the designed system itself; the outcome navigated toward sits in the territory of sustained interpretive agency, an individual’s own meaning-making becoming legible to themselves.

Siblings, not iterations

The two systems share a theoretical origin in the doctoral research, but each has been developed within its own working environment: the Practitioner SOS within the format conventions of organisational consulting; the Co-Creator OS within a co-creative environment between the designer and AI. The relation is best described as siblings raised in different cultural systems: same source, different surfaces, different competences, different deliverables. The decision to develop both at once is deliberate. Either system on its own could be mistaken for the discipline it carries; together, they show that the apparatus is portable, that the same theoretical core can serve an organisational analyst, an individual reader of their own practice, and (in principle) other audiences not yet built for.

Developed through Semiozic OÜ (Tallinn, Estonia)
Co-Creator OS: in active design (2025 to present)
Practitioner SOS: in active development through Semiozic OÜ consulting engagements
Background informing the build: doctoral research on de-sign and techno-living spaces, University of Tartu
A walkthrough or further technical discussion is available on request; the underlying apparatus is proprietary to Semiozic OÜ
